Welcome to the Intertek SAI Global Dairy Team, bringing a wealth of practical on-farm knowledge and experience, ready to work alongside British Dairy Farmer Members.
Sarah Ford – Dairy Schemes Manager.
Location: Staffordshire
My career began on family farms with varying enterprises but an early love for dairy cows soon ensued. After attending Harper Adams, I ran and managed large scale dairy farms following my passion for technology and cows. After having my family, I spent time as a Business Development Manager with a dairy consultancy company. I then spent a number of years teaching before I became a Certification Manager which in turn then lead me to my current role with Intertek SAI Global. Based in Staffordshire, I actively work on a dairy unit to keep me grounded and directly in touch with the industry, plus I still love milking cows, rearing calves and being chief trailer driver for silaging.
Outside of work, time with the family is spent enjoying outdoor based sports particularly skiing and water sports, taking the children out with their ponies and days at the beach.
Beth Turner – Dairy Technical Manager
Location: Glasgow
I was brought up on a family dairy farm in the South Island of New Zealand where I completed a degree in Environmental Management and Planning. Following graduation, I worked as a Farm Environmental Consultant helping farmers prepare and complete their farm environmental audits. After meeting my Scottish partner we moved to Scotland on his family Dairy, Beef, Sheep farm. I then worked for Certification Bodies as a Certification Officer and Scheme Coordinator/Planner and am now in my current role as Dairy Technical Manager for Intertek SAI Global.
I enjoy working and interacting with farmers and constantly learning about different styles of farming. Any spare time I spend pursuing my love of horses and eventing.
Marcus Wood – Certification Manager
Location: South Yorkshire
My career began in farm management on a large mixed agricultural estate in Dorset with a focus on pigs. After a short overseas break, I became involved in pig farm assurance, helping to oversee the amalgamation of various schemes under the Red Tractor umbrella. I stayed with pig farm assurance for around 20 years, before branching out into other ‘intensive’ livestock sectors – poultry and dairying.
I’m married with a teenage daughter who is a budding equestrian, so spare time and any spare money is swallowed by my other role as stable lad and horse taxi operator! I also have a passion for hill walking if the equestrian calendar allows.
Hannah Spear – Certification Officer
Location: Wrexham/Shropshire Border
I grew up on a farm with cattle, sheep and deer and have worked on various beef and sheep farms, as well as helped out occasionally with game birds. I have relief milked for a local farm and now help out with my partners family beef farm.
My job gives me an outlet for my farming passion as everyday I get to interact with like minded people who share the same values, whether it be my co-workers or clients. My spare time mostly revolves around horses. I currently have a broodmare with several of her offspring and an ex-racehorse which I am hoping to compete next year.
