The 8D approach to problem solving is a detailed, team oriented method of solving critical problems. The goals of this method are to find the root cause of a problem, develop containment actions to protect customers and take corrective action to prevent similar problems in the future.

The purpose of this course is to; learn how to effectively identify the true cause of a problem and manage its consequences, gain knowledge of the tools used for problem solving and understand how to accurately report on your findings.

Course Objectives

The course content follows The 8 Discipline approach to Root Cause Analysis and covers the following topics:

  • The essentials of Root Cause Analysis and its process.
  • The 8D problem solving process focused on a team oriented approach to solving critical problems.
  • How to investigate the root cause and the two basic tools used to conduct a Root Cause Analysis.
  • Different ways of implementing corrective and preventive measures for the identified root cause of the problem. It also covers the practices for monitoring, verification and record keeping.

Course Content

This is an ideal course designed to provide the principles of food safety, the importance of being able to identify different food safety hazards as an introduction to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) system. It incorporates personal hygiene standards, the importance of storing and handling food hygienically and the function of monitoring food safety.
